About the Reunion

Shirley Baker Commons

Our reunion activities will take place in Shirley Baker Commons on the campus of Luther College, on June 21 - 23, 2024.

Schedule of Events

Friday, June 21

  • Meet and greet at Baker Commons
  • On your own for food/community consumption
  • Outdoor activities

Saturday, June 22

  • 8 am: morning group walk/Pilates stretch
  • 10 am: breakfast (Impact Coffeehouse muffins/scones/coffee
  • 11 am to 5 pm: On your own to explore Decorah
    • Canoeing/kayak on the river (3 to 5 hours)- rentals available in town
    • Trout fishing guided by Dave Mitchell (3-4 hours)
    • Bike part/all of Trout Run Trail (Decorah Bicycles - rentals)
    • High Ropes Course Adventure (+/- 2 hours (trained professional, Isaiah Mitchell plus one more trained professional)
    • There are three breweries, one cidery, and one winery in Winneshiek county
    • Visit three of the top ten waterfalls in Iowa
  • 3 pm to 5 pm: Outdoor activities at Baker Commons
    • Razzle Dazzle football
    • Botchy Ball
    • Cam Jam
    • Bags
    • Ultimate Frisbee
    • Frolf
  • 5 pm to 8 pm: Catered buffet by Luther Dining Services Catering (SODEXO)
  • 8 pm: cards (betting optional) and other games

Sunday, June 23

  • 8 am: morning group walk/Pilates stretch
  • 10 am: breakfast (leftovers and coffee)
  • 10 am: Townhouse check-out
  • 12 pm: Baker Commons check-out
    • those not leaving right away are welcome to our home after Come One and Come All!


About on-campus housing

  • Six-person Townhouse: $385 per night (plus refundable $100 damage deposit)
  • Four-Person Townhouse $255 per night (plus refundable $100 damage deposit)

    McGovern Family Reunion | June 21 - 23, 2024

    Luther College is pleased to offer housing for members of the McGovern Family Reunion in Baker Village Townhomes.

    Baker Village Information

    Baker Village offers Scandinavian-style architecture set at the nexus of a rustic farm park area, a flowering prairie, and a lush wooded area.


    Features of Baker Village Townhouses

    • A full kitchen, including a range, oven, refrigerator/freezer, and microwave (no utensils provided)
    • A living room furnished with a three-seat couch, one or two chairs (in six- or four-bedroom houses), a two-seat couch (in six-bedroom houses), an end table, and a cable/data port
    • A dining area containing a table and chairs
    • A dresser, twin bed, desk, desk chair, large closet, phone line, CAT6 network connection, and WiFi in all units.
    • A double-walled insulation and air sound barrier between units
    • Separate electronic heat and air controls for each townhouse
    • Convenient parking

    Room Information

    • All bedrooms are single occupancy. There are 4 or 6 bedrooms per townhouse.
    • All rooms have a Twin mattress and include pillows and blankets.
    • Each guest receives a linen packet that contains two flat twin sheets, pillowcase, towel, hand towel, and a washcloth.
    • Two bathrooms and two shower rooms per townhouse.

    • Four-person townhouse:  $255 per night (plus refundable damage deposit)
    • Six-person townhouse: $385 per night (plus refundable damage deposit)
